Hal Burdsall, Black Earth, WI. likes this bit for his 13yr old TWH 5 gaited riding mule Gabby Hayes.  Hal told us "I don't like having the extra leverage that comes with the TWH bit that he was used to when he arrived. He is very responsive to leg cues. The lower loop is a nice amount of leverage but what I really like is the with big loop he can feel the movement of the reins in that loop before receiving any pressure. He knows something is coming before the command arrives and is tuned in to my hands. His responding to leg cues and neck reining reduces the amount of reining necessary, just refinement. He seems to prefer the solid mouth piece to the French link that my MFT X mule, Cody, prefers. Gabby plays and "fiddles" with broken bits too much, seems distracting?? My trainer (Pat Fitzgerald) pointed me in your direction for that one when I was looking for a different bit for my first mule. It also allows me to use the same bit for driving (if I ever get around to that) by jumping up to the upper loop. I have five of your butterfly bits. I shouldn't have bought the three loop one (just don't need the extra loop) but you have to find out what works best through trial and error.
